Climbing ladders, handling tools, and even painting from a chair, these activities can be a dangerous business. It is very important to take care when doing home renovations, as failing to do so, can lead to personal injury.

There are essentially two different kinds of what are classified as personal injuries.  Personal injuries can be divided into physical injuries or illnesses and psychological injuries or illnesses.  While physical injuries could be the result of trips or falls, faulty services or goods, accidents at work or a traffic accident; psychological injuries generally refer to stress caused at work by a number of different factors, such as discrimination or stress and anxiety from being the victim of a crime.

Both psychological and physical injuries sometimes result from being given the wrong medications, vaccinations or even treatment at a hospital.  Personal injuries, both physical and psychological can often result in permanent disabilities and even death.

You can make a claim for compensation in the UK for personal injuries within a maximum of three years after the incident occurred.

Traffic accidents are the most common cause of personal injuries.  Police record any personal injuries that occur as a result of traffic accidents.  Personal injuries that occur when accidents happen at work should legally be recorded by the employer.  When personal injuries are caused by a faulty product, the store where the product was purchased from should be informed.

It is important to inform your insurance company of any personal injuries you have sustained when you sustain them.  If you intend on making a personal injury claim, you should also report it to your doctor.  Even if you don’t, it is important to speak to your doctor, because you may have sustained more serious injuries than you initially thought.

When you are aiming to make a claim, you need to gather as much evidence about your injuries as possible, because presenting comprehensive evidence will help your case for compensation.  Even if you are not intending on claiming compensation, it is still recommended that you keep hold of the evidence.

As noted at the outset, psychological injuries are also considered personal injuries.  Therefore if you are stressed, ridiculed, harassed or abused at work by superiors or your peers; you could suffer psychological injuries as a result.  You can still qualify for personal injury compensation, if you have suffered from psychological injuries.

Even if you are injured in your own home, these kinds of accidents can still be counted as personal injuries and you can claim compensation.  Though, the success of your claim will depend on the nature of the incident and the injuries you sustained.  For example, if your injuries happened because of poor workmanship or because you were using a product that was faulty, you could claim for personal injury compensation.

It does not have to be the victim who claims for personal injury compensation.  A victim’s family member could make a claim on behalf of them.  For instance, if an individual suffers a disability or dies as a result, their spouse or even children can file a claim for compensation.

Most personal injury claims are handled by personal injury lawyers on ‘no win, no fee’ terms.  Therefore, if your claim for personal injury compensation is unsuccessful, you will not be required to pay any legal fees.  If you have suffered from a personal injury and think you could claim compensation, you should speak to a reputable personal injury lawyer today. I recommend Marvin from bestlondonsolicitors.co.uk. There are also a number of social and governmental organisations that provide free consultations and advice regarding personal injury claims and how to file them.
